Install the design files Insert the Design CD in your computer. It should then auto run the setup.exe. If it doesn't: Left click on the Start menu and open the Run menu. Click Browse to locate the drive letter of your CD-Rom. Select the setup.exe file and click OK. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Where to find the design files Once the designs are installed, you can find them on: For the Elna Xquisit (EMD file): C:\AD-PROMO7/emd For the Elna 8600 and Elna 8200 (JEF file): C:\AD-PROMO7/jef

How to transfer designs to your machine If you have Xpressive, you can open the files in Xpressive, modify them and output them to a card for your Elna machine. If you have Xchange, you can directly copy the designs onto a blank SmartMedia card (Xquisit) or onto the blank card that comes with the Xchange (8600 and 8200). If you have an Elna Xquisit, you can transfer one group of designs at a time directly onto the SmartMedia card using the "copy" and "paste" functions of your computer. You'll need a device that reads a SmartMedia card (such as as SmartMedia PC Card Adapter or a USB Reader/Writer). Right click on Start, click Explore. Select AD-PROMO7 folder. Select emd folder. Open one of the 15 folders. Only one folder can be copied onto the card at a time. To copy another folder, delete the first and copy the second. Right click on folder named 2p1 and select "copy". Open the drive for your SmartMedia. Right click and select "paste". If you have an Elna 8600 or 8200, you can transfer designs directly onto the SmartMedia card using the "copy" and "paste" functions of your computer. You'll need a SmartMedia PC Card Adapter and, depending on your computer, possibly a USB Reader/Writer. The card must be formatted before transferring a design: Insert the PC Card Adapter and card into your Elna 8600 or 8200. Turn on the machine. Touch SET (8200 - select Mode first) and Page Backward. Touch YES to format ATA PC card. Touch Return to exit. NOTE: Do not turn off the machine or remove the card while the card is formatting. Remove PC Card Adapter and card from machine. Insert PC Card Adapter and card in your computer or insert card in multicard reader and attach to computer. Right click on Start, click Explore. Select AD-PROMO7 folder. Select jef folder. Open one of the 15 folders. Right click a design and slect "copy". Open the drive for your SmartMedia. Right click and paste .jef file into EmbF5 folder. (The Ord#5 folder is for ordinary or traditional sewing memory.) Remove the card, insert it in the PC Card Adapter and insert both into your Elna machine.
